Intersections are combinations or overlaps of different social categories. When combining the social categories sex/gender, migration background and age, categories such as "female, no migration background, over 65 years" or "diverse gender, migration background, under 65 years" are created. This means that a variety of characteristics are assigned to a person at the same time.
